Body Found Near Airport Being Called Suspicious

SACRAMENTO (CBS13) ― The body of a man found this afternoon at a park and ride lot near Sacramento International Airport may have been shot in the head.

Firefighter paramedics were called out to the park and ride lot at around 2:30 after an unresponsive male adult was reportedly found in a parked white Dodge Stratus.

When firefighters arrived at the lot, located at West Elkhorn Blvd. and Highway 99, they found that the body was deceased.

Crime scene investigators say that the man, described as being in his late 20s to early 30s, suffered trauma to his head and had blood on his face.

The Sacramento County Sheriff's Dept. said the victim did sustain head trauma but can't say whether the weapon was a gun. From first glance it didn't appear any weapons were found in the car or a suicide note, but three of the four doors were unlocked and the victim was sitting in the driver's seat.

"We are investigating it as a homicide, but at this point can't rule it as such," said Sgt. Tim Curran Sacramento County Sheriff's Dept.
The man who claims he found the body says the man was shot.

"I'm shocked this happened…kinda crazy," said the man. "I called CHP immediately."

This man who didn't want to be identified made the 911 call after finding the victim not breathing.

"He'd been shot in the head and uh looked like he'd been shot behind and the bullet came out the top of the car," said the man.

People who use this park and ride say they saw the white dodge stratus here early this morning at 4 a.m.

"Nothing suspicious; just looked a guy parked here asleep," said Elkin Guzman Park & Ride User

But it was something much more: a man dead, bleeding from his head and its giving park and ride users something to think about

"We'll be using it again. Not in the near future, that's for sure," said Elkin.
