Orphaned Bear Cub To Get Hibernation Help
SACRAMENTO (AP) ―
An orphaned bear cub could soon be snuggled into a den near Truckee for a long winter's rest.
State Fish and Game officials plan to put the 80-pound cub into the den today to beat winter storms predicted the rest of the week.
The cub was orphaned last year and has been cared for since then in a pen.
Wardens think it now weighs enough to survive the winter on its own.
