Former Baywatch Actor Facing Burglary Charge

PLACERVILLE, Calif. (CBS13) ― An actor famous for his role on "Baywatch" was arrested in Placerville on charges of burglary and hit and run.

Placerville police say 37-year-old Jose Solano was passing through town on April 28, 2008 on his way from Reno to the Bay Area when he stopped into the Hangtown Tattoo and Body Piercing parlor. Police say he stole several pages of designs or "flash" from the shop and ran off.

Shop owner David Cameron says he chased the actor down the street after he says he noticed that the pages were missing.  When Cameron caught up with Solano he said that Solano had taken his shirt off, as a possible means to throw Cameron off his scent.

According to Cameron and police, Solano got into a vehicle, backed into a light pole, then sped away.

Officers pulled Solano over a few blocks away and found the pages he's accused of taking.

"I was pretty shocked," Cameron said.  "You know, when I found out he was on 'Baywatch' I was even more shocked."

Cameron also told said he would have just given Solano the pages if he had asked for them.

Solano was arrested and released from the El Dorado County Jail on $10,000 bail.  He played the part of Manny Gutierrez on the series between 1996 and 1999.
