BART Delays Expected After Weekend Fires

HAYWARD (AP) ― Some people who use BART to get to work can expect to see delays as crews work to repair damage by two fires over the weekend.

After two electrical fires Saturday, crews will be working to repair cables and tracks damaged by the fires.

A BART spokesman says while the work is being done, the Richmond to Fremont train will stop at the Bayfair station.

Riders looking to go further south toward Fremont will need to transfer to another line.

BART is recommending that riders catching trains south of Oakland should arrive at their stations 15 minutes earlier than usual to make up for the delay.

The repair work comes after two separate fires broke out while crews worked on an equipment upgrade at a BART substation Saturday.
