Local Auto Museum Displays Classic Trailers
by John Iander
SACRAMENTO (CBS13) ―
It's moving day at Sacramento's Towe Auto Museum. Exhibits of 170 are always changing. Sometimes they aren't even cars.
On display now are early camping trailers like a 1934 Mullens.
Historian Rafael Jimenez showed CBS13 around.
"Our exhibit here is focused on the golden years of camping, the thirties and forties. We have a 1949 Desoto that was an experiment. The back seat would fold down, the trunk would open up and you can layout in the back of this car," says Jimenez.
After WWII many of the craftsmen who made our aircraft now started making trailers.
The museum is also displaying some early RVs you're invited to look, but don't count on getting the camp here overnight!
