Attempt To Recall Lawmaker Over Tax Hikes Fails
SACRAMENTO (AP) ―
A recall effort against a Republican state lawmaker who voted to raise taxes earlier this year has failed.
The secretary of state's office said Friday that opponents of Assemblyman Anthony Adams of Hesperia did not gather enough valid signatures. A random check found they fell more than 11,000 short of the nearly 36,000 signatures they needed.
In February, Adams was one of six Republicans who joined Democrats in voting for temporary increases to the vehicle license fee and the sales and income taxes.
His district straddles Los Angeles and San Bernardino counties.
