Armed Homeowner Kills Suspected Burglar

SACRAMENTO (CBS13) ― An armed homeowner shot and killed a man who was allegedly trying to rob his home, according to authorities.

The Sacramento Police Department says two suspects entered the victim's home on 51st Street Saturday morning and confronted the homeowner, who was able to retrieve a firearm. The man then shot one of the suspects in self-defense, according to authorities.

The second suspect -- a white male in his late 20s, standing 5'6", weighing 135 pounds -- fled the scene.

Police believe the victim knew the suspects. Anyone with information on the crime is urged to call Crime Alert at (916) 443-HELP.
