Massive Outdoor Pot Garden Discovered In El Dorado
EL DORADO HILLS (CBS13) ―
El Dorado County Sheriff's deputies have discovered and destroyed a massive outdoor marijuana garden in El Dorado Hills that spanned over three miles of property.
The pot garden was discovered last Saturday on both private, State and Federal land in the area off Salmon Falls Road, Dorado Ridge Trail and Salmon Valley Lane.
Using helicopters, deputies say they pulled about 32,000 marijuana plants out of the garden, many were 6 feet tall. They also discovered an elaborate watering system consisting of more than a mile of irrigation lines carrying water from remote watering sites, such as dammed creeks.
Deputies estimate they stopped 32,000 pounds of pot from hitting the streets. They say at current value, the crop would have been worth an estimated $58 million.
There are no suspects in custody, but deputies say the size and style of the marijuana garden suggests Mexican Nationals are behind the pot plot.
