Local Company Using Nano Technology In Skin Creme

There's a new local twist to the buzz about nanotechnology. A local company using nanoparticles to keep you looking young!

Who doesn't want to look younger? The cream is called bim-e-ne. The company claims it uses age reversing science.

Taking beauty cream high tech. Telomolecuar out of Rancho Cordova is a biomedical company developing anti-cancer and anti-aging therapies. It's their new cream. They liken to the fountain of youth in a jar.

"As you age your body creates less collagen which causes aging in the skin. A lot of beauty products contain collagen," said David Dollar, Telomolecular.

But the company says the protein in collagen is to large to be absorbed and sits on top of skin until it's washed away. That's where nanotechnology comes in. The company claims it's nano technology carries collagen into the deeper layers of skin.

"With nanoparticles we can encapulsate those ingredients & deliver them into skin where they do their job," said David.

"It's buzz, it's sexy," said Dr. Emil Tanghetti, dermatologist.

Dr. Tanghetti cautions the technology claims should be taken with a dose of skepticism. Moisturizing creams may make skin look better but warns there aren't a lot of studies to show if new products will make a difference long term in skins appearance.

"The technology is interesting and has a scientific basis, but just because it sounds good doesn't mean it is good," said Dr. Tanghetti.

The price is $150 dollars for 1 1/2 ounces. The company says that is about a 3-month supply.
