Study: Many Boosters Seats Not Protecting Children

Think your child is protected by their booster seat in your car?
Maybe not. Booster seats are designed to elevate kids so safety belts designed for adults are in the right position during a crash.
The Insurance Institute for Highway Safety and the University of Michigan Transportation Research Institute say 13 seats don't put children in the best position to be protected in a crash.
One manufacturer on that list, Evenflo, says it conducts extensive tests of the seats and says the study was "misleading."
Other child seat manufacturers say their products meet and exceed federal regulations.
It was the first time the Insurance Institute issued evaluations for booster seats and includes
photos of how a proper booster seat should fit and what is not recommended.
