Brubeck Hospitalized, Will Miss UOP Concert
STOCKTON (AP) ―
Jazz legend Dave Brubeck will not be performing at the University of the Pacific because he is hospitalized in Connecticut.
The 88-year-old pianist was scheduled to perform his 1959 album "Time Out" in its entirety at his alma mater in Stockton Friday night.
He has been in Norwalk Hospital in Connecticut since last weekend to receive treatment for a viral infection
Family members say the feisty Brubeck is up and walking around the hospital, but doctors have denied his request to travel to the show at Faye Spanos Concert Hall in Stockton.
Brubeck's longtime producer Russell Gloyd says doctors are being cautious to protect against a relapse.
Brubeck will be replaced by his eldest son, Darius Brubeck.
