Robert Redford Joins Napa Environmental Fight

ANGWIN, Calif. (AP) ― Actor Robert Redford is joining local environmental groups in a fight against a proposed Napa Valley development.

The Angwin development, called an eco-village, would feature 380 homes, including a 105-unit retirement center. It would be built by Pacific Union College and developer Triad Communities.

Redford, an eight-year resident of the valley, says he's joining the group, Save Rural Angwin, and serving on its 13-member advisory council. He says in a statement that he wants to "preserve this naturally carved land-basin from development."

The Academy Award-winning film director and actor is a longtime environmentalist who was named one of Time magazine's Heroes of the Environment in 2007.
