Man At Center Of SWAT Standoff Found Dead
WOODLAND (CBS13) ―
The suspect at the center of a SWAT standoff in Woodland has died, say police.
After a lengthy standoff with the suspect, officers entered the Woodland apartment and found the suspect dead apparent self-inflicted gunshot wounds.
The standoff began at 4:30 a.m. today after Police received reports that a man had taken his wife and two daughters hostage and had fired shots.
Woodland Police SWAT officers surrounded the Woodland Manor apartment complex near Main and Grand where the suspect had allegedly barricaded himself inside. Officers sent in a robot equipped with a loud speaker inside the apartment after they lost communication with the suspect who, police say, made no demands. They found the suspect's body at around 1:30 p.m.
Forty people from nearby residences were evacuated during the standoff.
The man's wife and children were not injured. His has not been released.
