Modesto Police Find 25 Idling Unattended Vehicles
MODESTO (CBS/AP) ―
Modesto Police may have prevented more than two dozens cars and trucks from being stolen today during an early morning operation to spot motorists who leave their vehicles running while unattended.
Officers involved in the operation found 25 cars and trucks running and unattended during a one hour and a half hour time period. Officers from the Modesto Police along with StanCATT and CHP contacted the owners. No citations were issued today, just some advice and brochures with safety tips.
Police say that when the weather turns colder they
see an increase in cars and trucks that are stolen as motorists leave them running unattended while warming the interior.
