Mother, Children Found Slain In Oroville

OROVILLE (AP) ― Oroville police found a woman and her two toddlers dead in their apartment, victims of an apparent homicide.

A few hours later, Butte County Sheriff's deputies found the woman's boyfriend dead in a parked car. Authorities believe the boyfriend, 28-year-old Samuel Gonzalez, killed himself with a shotgun.

The 30-year-old woman and her children -- ages 3 and 2 -- were found dead Wednesday afternoon. Their names were not immediately released.

Oroville Police Chief Kirk Trostle says Gonzalez was a suspect before he was found dead.

Police say the couple apparently argued earlier in the day. Gonzalez was then seen leaving the area in the woman's car.

Investigators found a neighbor's apartment had been broken into and a shotgun stolen.
