Identity Of Sac. Fatal Shooting Victim Released

SACRAMENTO (CBS13) ― Jason Fletcher, 35, of Sacramento was killed this morning after he was shot during an alleged attempted carjacking.

At around 12:30 a.m. today, police received the report of gunfire on Brookfield Dr., just east of Franklin Blvd. in South Sacramento. When they arrived, they found a crime scene but no victims.

After they called around to nearby hospitals asking about the victim, police found out that the victim had been taken to Kaiser South Hospital by his friends.

Investigators a group of people were driving around in a car when they were approached by two or more suspects who allegedly tried to steal the car. Shots were fired into the vehicle, hitting Fletcher in the upper body.

Fletcher died at the hospital.

Police are still searching for the suspect.
