Art Worth Thousands Stolen From Midtown Gallery

SACRAMENTO (CBS13) ― Thousands of dollars' worth of rare artwork were stolen from a midtown Sacramento art gallery, and police are searching for the suspect who was caught on camera.

Police say the suspect stole the artwork right off the wall in broad daylight as people walked by. His target was the midtown Solomon Dubnick Gallery at 20th and J Street, which was displaying the artwork of Marc Goings.

The stolen artwork was worth more than $4,000, according to authorities.

Shirley Dubnick, the director of the galley, believes the suspect was prepared to commit the crime.

"That was very deliberate," she said. "There's no question in my mind, he was prepared to steal."

The gallery is one of many galleries that hosts an event called Second Saturday, where the public is invited to visit. Organizers say 2000 people paid a visit, and they believe the suspect was one of them.
