Vacaville Man Arrested For Using Car As A Weapon
SACRAMENTO (CBS13) ―
He tried to mow a man down with his car, but it wasn't long before he got caught. CBS13 went to Vacaville to find out how police were able to make an arrest within minutes of the attempted murder.
Alfred Macasocal was sitting in his truck, when he says he saw his next door neighbor, Shannon Danley, drive his car through the garage.
"When I head the crash I just looked over there and saw the taillights backing up," says Alfred.
Vacaville Police say a fight broke out between Danley, his wife, and another man. But when investigators arrived, Danley was gone and the other man had been run over.
"I thought this was definitely an intentional act because the way that the garage was buckled. It was very obvious that whoever had done this had intended to send the person to the back of the garage," say investigators.
Not only was the garage ruined, police say Danley drove the car into one of the bedrooms.
Police still hadn't arrested Danley. He had taken off, but not for long. Danley was on parole and a registered sex offender, so thanks to an electronic ankle monitor, Danley was found at a relative's house in Vacaville.
Police say when they arrested Danley, he said he was on his way to turn himself in. Now, he is behind bars and charged with attempted murder.
CBS13 did try and contact Danley's wife, but she was not at home.
As for the victim, police say he is fine. Officer's also say that Danley's wife was not injured during the event.
