Family Of Teen Murder Victim Seeks Justice

AUBURN (CBS13) ― An 18-year-old was shot and killed 13 years ago. Now, his kid sister is all grown up and hurting more than ever.

For 13 years a family has been waiting for justice that so far hasn't come. The family has lost hope after they say a $10,000 reward has been pulled off the table.

Eighteen-year-old Glenn Whitten was shot several times and killed. His body found at upper lake Clementine near the Foresthill bridge. That was in july, 1995 when his mother just started to grieve

The pain is still very much there, now 13 years later.

Jaqui Whitten: I try not to grieve all the time.

Mike: But, the grieving doesn't ever end.

Jaqui: No, it doesn't end.

"I think it's worse now, because back then I was a little girl. Now I'm a pissed off woman," said Michaela Whitten.

Michaela was just 13 when she lost her big brother. She thinks it's not a question of who did it.

"I know exactly who they are. I know exactly who you are," said Michaela.

An arrest was made.

"And due to the fact it's circumstantial evidence...unable to convict," said Michaela

The case never went to trial and not enough evidence has come up since.

"Do you know they've had children? My brother never got to have children. My brother will never get to meet my child," said Michaela.

The Whittens' first loss: their loved one. Mom Jaqui couldn't work.

"And so we lost everything. We lost the house, we lost the car," said Jaqui.

Take 2: They've battled back, and 13 years later the battle isn't over. Michaela will mark Glenn's anniversary by passing out flyers all weekend.

"This one says 'wouldn't you want someone to come forward if they knew something about the murder of your loved one," said Michaela.

They're hoping someone comes forward. Finally 13 years later: "And if we don't have him then who killed him doesn't deserve to have a life either. And i'm going to make sure of that," said Michaela.
