$34K In Donations For Teen Tortured In Tracy Home

TRACY (AP) ― Ten of thousands of dollars in donations have poured in to help a 16-year-old boy who police say was held captive and severely abused in a Tracy home for more than a year.

Next week, a Sacramento County judge is scheduled to decide how to manage the $34,000 given to the teen. Concerned donors from around the country and Europe wanted to help the boy following reports that he was chained to a fireplace, beaten with a baseball bat, burned and starved before he escaped on Dec. 1.

A Sacramento nonprofit law firm has been collecting monetary donations for the teen under court supervision for the last month.

A judge will decide whether to set up a special needs trust or some other kind of fund for the teen.
