CONTEST RULES
1. How to Enter the Contest:
(a) The Universal Studios/Simpsons Kid Reporter contest will begin on May 8, 2008 at 5am and end at 9:45am on May 14, 2008.
(b) To participate in the contest, viewers must enter at a venue (location TBA) where Good Day Sacramento will be broadcasting on May 8, 2008. Good Day Sacramento will broadcast live from a venue to be determined where we will be holding an open live taped audition for a kid reporter (children must be between the ages of 6 and 12). Every child accompanied by a parent or legal guardian, who comes to the audition by 10am on May 8, 2008 will be taped for our judges to be considered. Entries close at 10am. All contestants in line at the time of closing will have a chance to audition. All contestants must complete a release signed by their parent or guardian.
(c) Incomplete entries will be disqualified. One entry per child, additional entries per child will cause all entries from the child to be disqualified.
(d) Entry materials that have been tampered with or altered are void. If the judges determine, in their sole discretion, that there is any suspected or actual tampering with the Contest or if technical difficulties compromise the integrity of the Contest, the judges reserve the right to void the entries at issue and/or terminate the Contest and conduct a random drawing to award the prize among all eligible entries received as of the termination date. If the Contest is terminated due to tampering or technical difficulties prior to its expiration date, notice will be posted at www.cw31.com. If, for any reason, the Contest is not capable of running as planned, including tampering, unauthorized intervention, fraud, technical failures, or any other causes beyond the control of Sponsor which corrupt or affect the administration, security, fairness, integrity or proper conduct of the Contest, Sponsor reserves the right at its sole discretion to cancel, terminate, modify or suspend the Contest. Sponsor reserves the right to disqualify any entrant that tampers with the operation of the Contest or violates the Official Rules of the Contest.
(e) Odds of winning depend on number of eligible entries received.
2. Eligibility Restrictions:
(a) The contest is open to California residents living within the Sacramento-Stockton and Modesto DMA who are between the ages of 6 and 12 years of age. Employees of KMAX/KOVR, CBS Corporation, other television and radio stations in the Sacramento-Stockton and Modesto market, and their affiliates, subsidiaries and advertising agencies and their immediate family members or persons living in the same household are ineligible to participate or win.
(b) Viewers are eligible to win a KMAX/KOVR, contest only once every sixty days. Only one winner per household is permitted in any contest. Viewers are eligible to win a prize valued at $600.00 or more only once every six months.
(c) All entries become the sole property of Station and will not be returned. By entering, entrants agree to abide by these rules, and warrant and represent that their entry is their original work.
3. Prizes: 1 prizes to be awarded
(a) Prize includes: Round trip coach airfare for 2 (winner and legal guardian) to a Los Angeles area airport. One night stay (double occupancy) at Universal Hilton, includes all taxes and surcharges. Hotel subject to availability, a similar hotel will be substituted, if the Hilton is not available. Winner and legal guardian will attend grand opening of "The Simpsons" ride at Universal Studios on 5/17 as well as tape segments/appear live on Good Day Sacramento 5/16 and 5/17. Total value of the trip is $1,000.00
The Package does not include the following: Ground transportation, Travel insurance; hotel room service; parking fees; laundry service; food; alcoholic beverages; merchandise, souvenirs, etc.; local and long distance telephone calls; tips, gratuities, service charges, resort fees; or all other charges.
(b) Winners must be able to travel anytime on 5/16/08 to 5/17/08 and must be willing to appear on Good Day Sacramento and tape segments for the morning show on 5/16/08 and 5/17/08. All prizes or prize certificates may be picked up at the office of KMAX/KOVR. Any prize or prize certificate not claimed within 24 hours of notification will be forfeited by the winner. In the event that a prize or prize certificate is mailed to the winner, it will be with the prior written consent of the winner and therefore, winner assumes the risk of its arrival. KMAX/KOVR is not responsible for the safe arrival of a prize or prize certificate.
(c) Contest prizes are not transferable. Prizes may not be substituted for or redeemed for cash. Station reserves the right to substitute prize of comparable value.
4. Selection of Winners:
(a) Decisions of contest sponsors with respect to the contest are final.
(b) On or about 5/8/08, five finalists' auditions will be selected from all of the auditions received. Auditions will be judged on originality; ability to perform in front of a camera; and on-camera presence. Entries will be judged by 5 Good Day Staff Members (including personality, Mark S. Allen). The judges will select five finalists to be profiled on www.cw31.com website for voting.
Beginning 5/9/08 at 7am and ending 5/14/08 at 9:30am, the five finalists' will be uploaded onto cw31.com. Viewers will be able to view the 5 finalists by logging onto www.cw31.com and vote for who they believe is the best kid reporter. The person with the most votes will win the grand prize package. The winner will be revealed live on Good Day Sacramento on 5/14/08 between 9:30 and 10:00am. Winner need not watch to win. The winner will be contacted via phone.
5. Conditions:
(a) Payment of all federal, state and local taxes are the sole responsibility of the winner and winners may receive an IRS Form 1099 or equivalent from Station or promotional partner.
(b) By participating in the contest, the winner and finalists agree to have their name, voice, or likeness used in any advertising or broadcasting material relating to this contest, and to sign a publicity release, affidavit of eligibility and release of liability prior to acceptance of the prize. Prize will be awarded to the minor's parent or legal guardian and that winner's travel companion must be his/her parent or legal guardian. By accepting the prize, winner and finalists grant to Station the right to use the winner's name, voice, picture and/or likeness for purposes of advertising and publicity in any and all media now known or hereafter invented, without further permission or additional compensation (except where prohibited by law). All expenses on receipt and use of prize are the sole responsibility of winner. Winners, by acceptance of their prizes, agree to release Station, CBS Corporation, their respective parents and subsidiaries, and their respective advertising, promotion and production agencies from any and all liability, claims or actions of any kind whatsoever for injuries, damages or losses to persons and property which may be sustained in connection with the receipt, ownership or use of the prize or while preparing for, participating in, and/or traveling to any prize-related activity.
6. Contest sponsors reserve the right to make changes in the rules of the contest which will become effective upon announcement.
7. Sponsor is not responsible for any typographical or other errors in the printing, the offering or the administration of the contest or in the announcement of the prize.
8. No purchase necessary. The contest is void where prohibited by law.
9. Failure to comply with the contest rules may result in a contestant's disqualification.
