Call Kurtis: Double Mold

LINCOLN (CBS13) ― Carlo and Teresa Gallad moved their family back into this Cameron Park Home after moving them out for months, because of leaking windows and spreading mold.

They're suing the builder, Lucas and Mercier because of defective construction. In fact there son Cameron's room is empty right now because all the windows leak. Actually every window in the house leaks. The Gallad's say their builder tested their windows and even agreed they leaked. But after replacing many of them four times, the builder seems to have run out of solutions.

Young Cameron says the guy doing the testing showed him what was happening.

"It was an infrared machine. That whatever is black is water intrusion, and I saw it and there's like black all around my room, all downs stairs, it was mainly under the windows."

The builder put the Gallad's up at a hotel for a while, but they say that ended when they hired an attorney. So they moved in with Carol's parents and then friends. But they say they needed space, especially with two kids. They were paying the mortgage for the house on Ashland Drive, so couldn't afford to pay rent for another house too. They were also advised not to remove any furniture out of the house. Carlo says getting the furniture cleaned would cost more than $60,000, so the family felt they had little choice but to move back in.

Cameron and Lilly take it all in stride. "We had to move my sister's toys and the computer downstairs". The Gallad's say they've all been sick from living in the home, but that Cameron's had it the worst. He's taking Cingular, Advair, Zopenex, Zyrtec, and the occasional Motrin for head-aches. After years of dealing with the problem, Cameron's reached a conclusion many people find much later in life. "I have to live in it. I've had so many problems. It sucks! Cuz all this, especially in my room, of all places. I've had to have all these tests…it's not fair. It's just not fair."
