Call Kurtis: Fun Cut Short
SACRAMENTO (CBS13) ―
Donna Kiefer grew up in Sacramento and raised her kids here. Going to William Land Park and Funderland is a family tradition.
"It's a wonderful park, it really is." Donna tells us.
So when her daughter Michelle came for a week from Idaho with the five grandkids, they planned a day at the park. They started with Fairytale Town and a picnic, "and then went over to Funderland to ride the rides because it's just perfect for kids under ten".
Michelle decided to buy the $9.99 all-day bracelets for the two older boys so they could ride as many rides as they wanted, and bought individual tickets for the little ones.
They came home for a nap, planning to return around 4pm with Grandma. Donna said, "After I got home from work we walked over to the park for them to ride and the gate was shut".
But the signs clearly say they're open from 11am to 5pm
so what gives? "They were very disappointed."
After the family left, Donna went over and talked with a Funderland employee who told her they closed early because there was no one there and it saves money.
She asked, "do you give coupons or can I get something so that when my grandkids comeback we can come again? He said no, we close all the time".
Well, apparently they aren't suppose to. Donna contacted us and we called Funderland owner Sam Johnston. He told us, "closing early is not acceptable and I've met with my staff to clarify that".
He agreed to send Donna two complimentary all-day passes good anytime between now and the end of the year. "My grandkids will come visit us again I'm sure of it; and they'll want to go again and now the little ones will want the bracelet."
