Buy It And Try It: GT Xpress 101
DAVIS, Calif. (CBS13) ―
Having four girls keeps Liza Vitangcol of Davis busy.
"Kaitlyn is 13, Alyssa is 11, Lexi is 10 and Britney is 7," says Liza.
With their hectic lives, she needs cooking to be easy.
"I cook one thing and everyone eats it," says Liza.
I asked her: Whether they like it or not?
"Absolutely," she replies.
The girls are eager to try out my GT Xpress 101, which says it can cook hundreds of meals in just minutes... no slaving over the stove or turning food.
We're going to start with a sausage omelette. Mom pours in the eggs, drops in sausage and we set the timer for seven minutes.
"4, 3, 2, 1," the girls count down.
"Okay, it should be perfect," says Liza.
They are fluffy. Liza uses the supplied spatula to fish out the omelet and now the taste test. Is it good?
They reply, "Mmmm, it's really good."
It was easy and the girls liked it, so let's try the next step, which is corn dogs. The girls love them. Pour the corn bread batter, add the hot dogs and set the clock for nine minutes.
One of the girls says, "It smells really good."
When the time's up, they're golden brown. How do they taste? Again thumbs up.
We've had breakfast, we've had lunch. Now let's try dessert. A favorite around here...molten brownies. Again, pour in some batter, drop in some Hershey pieces, set the clock for seven minutes.
And another taste test.
"Surprisingly that's very good," says Liza.
And the girls don't seem to want to come up for air.
The girls love the GT Xpress 101. In all actuality, it does pretty well.
Although it makes servings for two to four people, Liza's not sure she'd use it to cook for her family of six.
"For snacks and little things, but not for a whole meal," says Liza.
I paid $39.95 and bought it online.
