Call Kurtis: Talent Connection
SACRAMENTO (CBS13) ―
"Everybody says she should be in modeling. I thought I'd give it a try, and anything she made off of it, if she did, I was going to put in a savings account for her," says Toni Stratton.
The Citrus Heights mom took her two year old daughter Kairi to Talent Connection, a performing arts school and marketing company in Folsom.
Toni paid them $795 for their top photo shoot package.
But the next day she had buyer's remorse.
She called them they agreed to let her downgrade the package, which meant they'd print fewer poses, and a savings of $345; Talent Connection promised to refund that to her.
But they also told her their accountant was out, and to call back in a week.
Toni says "I waited a week called back and the accountant still wasn't in and now I'm being told she was on her honeymoon."
Again she says they told her to call back in a week.
And again she called.
"I couldn't get a hold of anybody. I left messages nobody called me back."
This went on for several weeks.
Now Toni was concerned.
"Some of the most horrible things go through your mind that you got swindled."
She received some great photos but would she ever get her money?
"What do you do? Who do you go to?"
Well she came to us.
We talked to Talent Connection. They told us they never "blow-off their customers" and would certainly refund Toni's money.
They called her the minute we got off the phone.
"And when I talked to her today she 'said oh I'm so sorry about what happened, we refunded the wrong person.'"
Three days later Toni's $345 was back in her bank account.
"Pretty mind blowing that all of sudden that after a month of going through just waiting and sitting and waiting that she's more than willing to bend over backwards and help me out."
