Wife Of Christie Wilson's Killer Arrested
SACRAMENTO (CBS13) ―
The wife of Mario Garcia, the man convicted of killing Christie Wilson, has been arrested in connection with an alleged money making scheme to pay for her husband's legal defense, according to documents filed in federal court.
The IRS arrested Jean Garcia yesterday on charges of filing false loan documents to refinance the Garcia's Auburn home, cashed out the equity in the home and then filed for bankruptcy.
According to the court documents, the investigation into Jean Garcia went back to January of this year around the time her husband was sentenced for Wilson's murder.
On January 11, Mario Garcia was sentenced to at least 59 years in prison after making an emotional statement in front of Wilson's family and friends and his own family saying he did not kill Christie Wilson and that he did not get a fair trial.
Christie Wilson was last seen on surveillance video leaving Thunder Valley Casino. Blood and DNA matching Wilson's was found on Garcia's car. Despite exhaustive searches, Wilson's body is still missing.
Jean Garcia was arraigned in federal court in Sacramento today where she was assigned a public defender. She is out of jail on a $50,000 bond.
She's scheduled to be back in court on December 28.
