Missing Woman's Family Nervous About '48 Hours'
by Charlotte Fadipe
SACRAMENTO (CBS 13) ―
Mario Garcia will appear in court next month, on trial for murdering Christie Wilson. But her family says tonight they'll be going through a different kind of trial - that of public opinion, as 48 hours tells the country about their daughter's life and death.
As the national spotlight turns on Christie Wilson, her family admits they're in emotional turmoil.
"Something like this, it brings up all kinds of emotions you didn't even know you had," says Wilson's mother Debbie Boyd.
27-year-old Wilson disappeared last October after gambling mid-week with Mario Garcia, a married father of two. Her body has never been found.
Now Wilson's family is bracing themselves in case their daughter, who they admit used drugs and drank, is portrayed as promiscuous to the whole country.
"If it takes '48 Hours' and some unflattering things said about her to bring us to where she is and give us closure, then it was worth the time to do the interviews," says Boyd.
Saturday's ten o'clock program delves into Garcia's past as well. It also has plenty of interviews with women the auburn resident once knew.
Mario Garcia is due back in court in April.
