Chase Suspect Causes Several High Speed Accidents

KENWOOD, Ohio (CBS) ― A newly released cruiser camera video from Ohio Sheriff's shows the chaos a suspected escaped inmate caused on Interstate-71.

Investigators say their suspect, Adam Carpenter, caused several crashes between Lebanon, Ohio and Kenwood, Ohio as he rushed to avoid arrest. The suspect had about five hours of freedom before he was hauled off to jail.

Carpenter was accused of escaping the Community Corrections Center in Turtlecreek Township hours before the chase started. Investigators say they got onto him after a 9-1-1 call came in from a Turtlecreek Township home. A woman reported that she and her sister were tied up at gunpoint, and that a man stole her white Chevy Trailblazer.

Carpenter forced dozens of cars to the side of the road, and caused several crashes along the way. Police say it was amazing that no one was hurt after seeing all the damage Carpenter caused during the chase along the highway.
