Call Kurtis: Trumped by Trump
Cancelling out of the Wealth Building Seminar
Who doesn't want to make a lot of money, and when you think Donald Trump you definitely think money. That's why Mary Scott took a friend to the Trump Institutes free seminar at Sacramento's Holiday Inn on Madison. She even got a free book out of it. Mary says the information given made good sense.
"We only planned on staying for maybe an hour. We stayed for the whole thing. It was interesting."
Mary and her friend were encouraged to sign up for Trump's Wealth Building Weekend at the Radisson Hotel. The three-day event cost them $1998.00 each. They charged it to their credit cards. They got three large manuals and were told there was a three-day cancellation policy. Shortly after paying, Mary saw someone struggling to cancel.
"The guy got upset and the director ended up taking them outside and talking to them."
She went home and found other complaints from people struggling to get refunds, and some who attended complained they'd have to invest tens of thousands more. Mary says that's when she changed her mind.
"That's when I started saying no; it's just going to be a domino affect thing"
Within the three days, Mary and her friend decided to cancel and return the manuals. She was told she'd have to wait until packaging was sent to return those manuals. Then she was told a refund could take up to two weeks after that.
"Ok I don't like any of this and I thought I'm going to try this Call Kurtis thing."
We contacted the Florida Offices of the Trump Institute. They assured us they had every intention of providing a refund. A couple days after our call, Mary and her friend were refunded $1998.00 on each of their credit cards.
"Had you not stepped in, I don't think we still would have our money back."
