Buy It And Try It: The Windshield Wonder
WEST SACRAMENTO (CBS13) ―
Dirty windshields can be dangerous. Film and glares can make it tough to see, especially at night.
We went out to River City Car Wash, where they clean 7,000 cars a month, to test out the Windshield Wonder. Owner Bill Carbonel knows the pain of windshields.
"Inherently, they've always been a problem child in the industry," Carbonel said.
The Winshield Wonder is supposed to make cleaning the inside of windshields fast and easy with no chemicals, just water.
"The fact that you're not going to use any chemicals, it's going to be interesting to see if it's going to work that way," Carbonel said.
Cleaning chemicals cut through the dirt and prevent streaks, he added.
We first made sure the outside of our news vehicle was clean by running it through their car wash. We wanted to make sure the outside glass was clean so the only dirt would be inside.
All manager Steve has to do is spray water on the microfiber cloth.
"It's cleaning really well," Steve noted as he began scrubbing.
In the end, while cleaner, it has left some streaks on the bottom of the windshield. By comparison, Steve used his chemicals and cleaned the other half of the windshield the old fashioned way: no streaks.
The Windshield Wonder is also supposed to work inside. We tried it on a bathroom mirror, and in seconds, it was spotless, using no cleaning chemical.
But as for windshields, owner Bill thinks you'll need the chemicals, calling the Windshield Wonder "easier," but not "faster."
I paid $10 for the Wonder and bought it online.
