Buy It And Try It: The Steam Buddy
SACRAMENTO (CBS13) ―
No one likes dealing with wrinkled clothing. The Steam Buddy says it's the fastest, safest, and easiest way to remove wrinkles. Let's see if it holds up to its claim.
As the executive director of the Sacramento Area Commerce and Trade Organization, Barbara Hayes travels around the globe trying to lure business to the river city.
"The pacific rim, it could be New York, or it could be Atlanta as it was last week," she said.
On each trip, she packs all her clothes for an entire week into a small suitcase. "It certainly wrinkles," she said. "The iron in the hotel room is something that gets used quite a bit."
She fills the Steam Buddy with distilled water, which the directions state will give you optimal performance. She plugs it in, waits a few seconds for the light to go off, then presses the steam button fives times.
Are we seeing any steam? "Nope," she said.
No steam at all, but pressing the button, she glides it across her blouse
and nothing seems to happen.
We double check the instructions to make sure we didn't mess up, and follow the steps again.
"Nothing's happening, no steam," Barbara said. "It's warm but [it doesn't] hurt."
The directions say to hold down the button for a burst of steam. "Nothing, I've got nothing," she said. "No burst of steam, no stream of steam, not even a whisper of steam."
After waiting a few minutes, the Steam Buddy doesn't get any hotter or produce any steam.
"I think the Steam Buddy is a bust," Barbara said.
I paid $19.95 plus shipping and handling and bought it at BuySteamBuddy.com
