Human Remains Found In Sutter County

SUTTER COUNTY (CBS13) ― Officers in Sutter County are investigating a possible crime after a human leg was found in Sutter County on Sunday.

Sutter County Sheriff's deputies are currently searching what is known as "Beer Can Beach" in Sutter County off of Lee Road and Garden Highway where the remains were found. A ground search team, boat patrol and search dogs will be searching the area throughout the day.

Detectives are checking both local and surrounding areas for missing person reports.  Detectives did find an abandoned car about two miles from where the leg was found.  The car is registered to someone in Sacramento County who was reported missing two days ago.  It's unclear if the remains and the vehicle are related.

Authorities said the remains appear to be from a white male adult, and believe the remains have not been in the area for longer than seven days.

Sacramento police and West Sacramento police are also involved pursuing possible suspects and people with information in the case.
