Mike Luery is an award-winning journalist with a passion for news and more than two decades of broadcasting experience. He joined CBS13 in July 2009 as the Investigative Producer for the "On The Money" segments, which air multiple times each week during the 6pm newscast. Mike's responsibilities include enterprising, writing and producing in depth stories documenting government spending and the connection between money and politics in California.
Prior to joining CBS13, Mike was NBC's Capitol Bureau Chief in Sacramento, where he reported daily stories focusing on politics for a dozen NBC television stations across California and Nevada. Previously, he was appointed by Governor Gray Davis as Deputy Director of Communications for the California Department of Consumer Affairs. Before that, Mike served for nearly sixteen years as the Call 3/Consumer Reporter for KCRA-TV, educating viewers each day with important lessons in consumer protection. He was a television reporter in San Antonio, Texas and West Palm Beach, Florida and also a radio news reporter and anchor at stations from Connecticut to California.
Mike received Outstanding Achievement Awards for investigative Reporting from United Press International for a five-part series exposing the Ku Klux Klan in Florida and a multi-part series on cocaine abuse.
Mike is married with two children. He is an avid baseball fan, attending games in 40 Major League stadiums and is now writing a book about his cross-country road trip.
