In recent years, she's tackled topics as diverse as how the Iraqi community in the Detroit area reacted to and participated in the War in and rebuilding of Iraq, to the myriad challenges parents face in the 21st century.
Pallas says "Being a broadcaster is so much more than just reading copy. In order to help choose and interpret stories, television journalists need to be quick learners, have a well-rounded background and life experience." Here are highlights of hers...
Pallas got her start in broadcasting in an unusual way: hosting a show on the English-speaking channel in Saudi Arabia. Her family moved there because of her father's work. It was a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to learn about a culture inaccessible to many Westerners. It also revealed her passion for broadcasting.
A graduate of Oxford University with a master's degree in politics, philosophy and economics, Pallas is originally from Washington, D.C. She's lived in Oregon, the South Bay Area, the South, East Coast, Midwest and traveled to the Middle East, Asia, Europe and North Africa.
Married, with two boys, Pallas chose to move to Sacramento because it's a great place to work and raise a family, and that balance to her is key.
As for her name, Pallas is American but was born in Ankara, Turkey. Her parents were married in Athens, Greece and named her after Pallas Athena, the patron goddess of Athens. Her last name, Hupé, is French/German, from the Alsace-Lorraine region.
