Flavio Soria
In 2004, Good Day Sacramento decided to transmit its program in Spanish through the SAP channel. Flavio was in the right place at the right time, as the saying goes, and the rest is history. This is his first time in front of the camera, but his many years in sales aided in obtaining the gift of gab so he feels pretty comfortable on the air.
A native of Argentina, Flavio grew up in the town of Perez until his family migrated to California in 1969. Growing up the Los Angeles area he learned how to speak English when he was 7 years old and now is fluent in both Spanish and in English. He also speaks Italian which he learned from his "nono e nona", (grandparents) who were from Sicily and Calabria. He also gets to practice with his wife and mother in law who are Italian.
In 2002, Flavio and his wife Elisa decided to leave the concrete jungle for some greener pastures so they moved to Folsom. It was a bit of a culture shock for the better, but have adapted quite well. They miss their family, friends and the beach very much, but are very happy and content with the Northern California life style. Besides, two of their favorite activities are very close by; snow skiing and wine tasting!
As far as sports are concerned he enjoys golf, water and snow skiing but auto racing and autos are his passion. So much so that he is in the process of getting his racing license so he indeed can go racing. Additionally during the summer months, you will find Flavio and Elisa cruising with the top down in their yellow Triumph TR6. So if you pass them by, please wave and say hello.
Flavio can be heard and seen weekday mornings from 5:00 to 10:00 am.

Cuando UPN 31 decidió agregar la transmisión en español de su programa de la mañana, Good Day Sacramento sobre el canal SAP (Second Audio Programming), la estación supo que necesitarían traductores con mucho talento que tuvieran el instinto de trabajar dentro de un programa de televisión en vivo. Entonces entró Flavio Soria, nativo de Argentina criado en la ciudad de Pérez, Provincia de Santa Fe. Esta es la primera oportunidad que Flavio tiene para trabajar en un oficio en la televisión.
Flavio aprendió a hablar inglés a los siete años cuando llegó a Los Ángeles, California donde vivió por 33 años. Su primera carrera profesional fue la de vendedor de materiales de oficina. Cuando decidió cambiar su carrera, el aumentó su domino del español tomando cursos en la escuela Southern California School of Interpreting. ¿Por qué se mudo Flavio a Sacramento en el 2002? "Demasiada gente en Los Ángeles y la mudanza de mi hermana menor me dirigió hacia aquí." Después de trasladarse, Flavio ha continuado su carrera como traductor profesional y todavía es contratado a través de abogados para traducir casos jurídicos y médicos relacionados con reclamos de seguro para accidentes de vehículos y de la compensación al trabajador.
Frecuentemente se pude escucha y ver a Flavio dentro el estudio de Good Day Sacramento con sus traductores compañeros, Andrés Márquez y Martha García. Sus mañanas generalmente involucran el traducir en la "tercera persona" y frecuentemente uno puede escuchar a Flavio y Andrés bromeando y divirtiéndose. Flavio dice que el aspecto más difícil de su papel en Good Day Sacramento es tratar de traducir los comentarios de Mark S. Allen. Eso es debido a la velocidad con cual Mark habla y también porque nadie sabe nunca lo que ira a decir. "Tratamos de inventar y comentar sobre el tema del cual esta hablando Mark y al mismo tiempo, tratamos de insertar sus comentarios dentro de nuestra traducciones – esto le da un nuevo sentido al título de Traductor".
A Flavio le gusta jugar al golf y se considera un jugador promedio quien desea mejorarse. También disfruta el esquí de nieve con su esposa, Elisa y manejar su coche, un Triumph TR6, en las rutas rurales. "Conduciendo un coche descapotable viajando a 40 millas por hora con el viento pasando por mi cabello es muy divertido" El dice también que es muy activo y se considera "un aprendiz de todo oficio y oficial de nada". Pero un cosa si es clara – el ha perfeccionado su papel en Good Day Sacramento en español.
Flavio esta en el estudio de Good Day Sacramento de martes a viernes a partir de la 5:00 a las 10:00 de la mañana.
