Brandi Hitt joined the CBS13 news team in November, 2005. Brandi anchors the 4 p.m. newscast with Tony Lopez and also anchors world and national news at 5, 6 and 10 p.m.

A native of Lodi, Brandi's happy to be home and surrounded by family. She's a Tokay High Graduate.

Brandi's career started in Fresno while she was getting her degree in Mass Communications/Journalism at Fresno State. At 19, Brandi started working at KMPH FOX 26 as a video editor and then quickly started writing and producing newscasts. Once she graduated, she stepped in front of the camera, reporting, anchoring and helped launch a new morning newscast called "Great Day." Brandi also worked as an anchor/reporter at KVEW ABC in Tri-Cities, Washington.

In the past few years, Brandi has traveled the world covering national and international stories that effect families in the Sacramento area. She was nominated for an Emmy in 2007, for spotlighting a theme park in Mexico that sells tickets to a four hour border crossing experience.

She was also the first to test a new Homeland Security weapon that is supposed to temporarily blind suspects.

In 2008, Brandi traveled to Afghanistan, reporting how local reservists are saving the lives of troops seriously hurt on the front lines of battle. Her series, "Midnight Mission: Afghanistan & Back," was also nominated for an Emmy.

Outside of work, Brandi and her husband Chris enjoy traveling and writing music together. Chris is a professional musician. She also volunteers with the American Cancer Society, American Heart Association, St. Jude Children's Research Hospital and Sacramento's Women's Empowerment.
