Coming from cold, windy Illinois, Checkey is happy to be in Sacramento. She's always dreamed of living in California, and now she's finally here!
Checkey started her career in West Palm Beach, FL. There, she worked as a producer a year before landing her first reporting job in Champaign, IL.
She spent two years reporting on Midwest happenings before ending up here, at CBS13.
Checkey has always known she wanted to be a reporter. When she was little, she'd watch news reporters and anchors on TV and dream of growing up to do the same thing.
Checkey lives in West Sacramento with her fiancé.
She's enjoying getting to know the people and places of Northern California.
