Off The Beaten Path: Ghost Trackers
AMADOR (CBS13) ―
Are there spirits living in an old Amador County school? I say some paranormal scientists are using the latest technology to lure ghosts into the open.
Yvonne Funderburgh is a guide at the abandoned Preston Castle in Ione. This reform school was closed in 1960. Could the spirits of the wards and staff remain?
"In the beginning I was afraid to here alone, cause you sense things happen," says Yvonne.
Tonight, the ghost trackers from the Bay Area will investigate with cameras and sound recorders. Almost immediately Gloria Young feels a presence and hears a sound.
Gloria founded Ghost Trackers after experiencing the unexplained.
"And I became obsessed and went on a quest to find answers and came up with more questions," explains Yvonne.
I wandered around hoping for a little unworldly encounter. I did feel odd temperature changes and unexplained breezes, but no taps on the shoulder.
Other weird things happen around here. Sometimes doors just open and close with no one around.
Yvonne says she has seen things move for no reason. Ann Leong is a paranormal searcher armed with an infrared camera.
"I felt like there was someone behind me, I kept looking around to see, but there wasn't anybody. It was really weird," says Ann.
The Ghost Trackers routinely investigate old buildings and have found anomalies: This picture of a man in a doorway, these light orbs, and this image in a mirror.
These voices were recorded in the castle. Are they spirits calling out?
"We were asking for a name or for some kind of contact and he gave us the name of Jesses," explains Ann.
Richard Ducine's cameras have captured some odd images.
"I got some good orb pictures but unless you have a professional laboratory to analyze them, it's hard to say whether they are an artifact or something paranormal," Richard says.
After a night of watching and listening, just like Gloria says, you end up with more questions than answers.
So far the investigators say they believe there are three ghosts living in the castle that includes the cook who was mysteriously murdered.
